Summary Resistance of Some Barley Varieties To Winter Conditions and Yield Protuction in Erzurum This study was carried out under the hard climatic conditions in Erzurum with an elvation of 1950 m. The objective of the study to compare the winter hardness grain yield of 17, 30, 22 and 15 selected varieties out of 1295. The selected varieties were grown in the experimental preiods of 1975-1977, 1977-1978, 1978- 1978 and 1979-1980 respectively. The result of the stud shows that Krusevac 1 and Do 12/127 varieties which were among the best in respect to resistance to the winter conditions and the emergence from the winter can be recommended for Erzurum. The average grain yield of Krusevac 1 (as the average of 3 years). Wieland and Do 12/127 (as the average of 5 years) were 206.4, 206.9 and 191.0 kg/da and pecrestively. These yield data are considerably higher than the barley yield average of 114 kg/da which is given for the irrigated conditions in and around Erzurum. In brief it can be concluded that the three barley varieties mentioned above may be recomended for the Eastern Anatolia region even though the winter damage may adversely effect them from time to time. Keywords :
