Abstract :ÖZE T Elazığ yöresinde dolomitik kireç" taşlarından ol~an, eski sistemde rendzina; yeni sistemde ise Orthik Rendol büyük grubuna giren bir toprağın kil franksiyonunun mineralojik bileşimi X - ray, D.T.A. ııe Elektron mikroskop tekniği ile araştırılmıştır. Üç ayrı yöntemle elde edilen ııeriler, toprağın kilfranksiyonunund.a 15 AD ve 7 AD bazal yansıma aralığına sahip" kil tiplerinin başat olduğunu kanıtlamaktadır. 14 AO luk bazal yansıma aralığı gösteren minerallerin büyük bir ksırnmln montmoril/qnit; geri kalanın ise karışık katmanlı minerallerle lIermikulitten ibaret olduğu ııe 7 AD luk bazal yansırna aralığına sahip kil mine~alinin ise kaolinit olmayıp, serpantin "grubu "minerallerden özellikle krisotil olduğu saptanmıştır. profilde üstten derinlere doğru montmorillon~t miktarı azalmakta, krisotilııe kalsit ise artmaktadır. Bu minerallerin yanısıra, az lle eseri miktarlarda Attapulgit, illit ııe klorit de tesbit edilmiştir. A STUDY ON THE CLAY MINERALOOY OF THE SOIL (Orthic Rendoll) WHICH IS DERIYED FROM DOLOMITIC LIMESTONES NEAR ELAZIĞ (in semi-arid region) The clay mineralogy of asoil, which was classified and named as "Ortlıic RendoU", was studied by using X-ray, DTA and electron mleroscope technique. The X-ray diagrams _ belong to original day, glycolated Caclay, glycerol solvated Mg-day and heated (to 300 and 550°C) K~lay; DTA curves and electron micrographs indicated that : 1. Ca/cite (very strong and sharp diffraetion peak at 3.05 A0, and moderate diffraction peaks at 3.88 and 2.50 AO) and smectite (strong and broad diff· raction peak at 15 A0) are the dominant' minerals in original day fractlon through the profiL. Calcite increases while smeetite decreases with depth. 2. Serpntine (especially crysotile and lizardite) minerals (with strong and sharp remection peak at 7.3 AO) and smectite minerals are the do.ıniı:ı:ant Cıay minerals in CaC03 and free iron oxide removed clay species. In this fraction serpntine mnerals (crysotile and lizardite) increase with depth while smectite deereases. 3. Electron n:llcrographs indicate that, the percentage of crysotile is higher in C horizon and becomes 10wer' in the upper horizons (Ae, Al2 and Ap). Lizardite shows a contrary distribution witlı crysotile. 4. Besides smeetite, ca/cite and serpentine, significant amount of mixed- layer silicates and quartz, small to very amount- of illite. vermiculite, chlorite, talc and muscovite are found. 5. An estimation can a/so be nıade connected with the formation sequence of the minerals as shown in the following diagram, :Keywords :
