Abstract :The township of Halfeti, a district in the province of Şanlıurfa in Southeast Anatolia, is a centre of population some parts of which have been submerged under the waters of Birecik Dam built in the region. It is one of the rare settlement areas with a well-preserved historical fabric with the traditional houses built of local stone materials in harmony with topography standing in utmost perfection with the River of Euphrates. Halfeti was designated as ‘Slow City’’ in 2013 as a result of which it has developed, thanks to its cultural and natural assets, into an important tourism centre in the region. This study investigates the general layout characteristics, plan types, façade designs of the traditional houses of Halfeti, and the materials and systems used in their construction in a detailed manner and presents the information obtained in the study. Keywords : Halfeti, restoration, typology, slow city, Traditional Fabric, Preservation
