Abstract :—Power systems stability is enhanced through a novel stabiliser developed around a fuzzy sliding mode approach. First, sliding mode control is applied to selected operating point based models of a power system separately then fuzzy logic is used to form a global model encompassing the separate subsystems, thus leading to a fuzzy sliding mode power system control. Stability is insured through Lyapunov synthesis. Severe operating conditions are used in a simulation study to test the validity of the proposed method, indicating better performance and satisfactory transient dynamic behaviourKeywords :
