Physical Education Teachers' Views on Communıcation Skills : A Case Study

Abstract :Our research was carried out in order to understand the views of the Physical Education teachers working at the Sports High School in the Incirliova district of Aydın, which is affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, on communication skills.Our research is a case study from qualitative research methods and has a holistic single case pattern. Easily accessible case sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods used in qualitative research methods, was used as a sample. Among the Physical Education teachers working in the Sports High School of Incirliova district of Aydın province, 16 teachers who wanted to participate voluntarily were determined as the sample group. Within the scope of our research, data were collected by metaphor and individual interview technique. Semi-structured interview forums The interviews held for 17-27 minutes were recorded and the interviews were categorized under sub and super themes with descriptive analysis.Within the scope of our research, while academic information, years worked, experiences and observations affect physical education teachers positively, gender affects communication in terms of physical education teachers in bilateral relations. While opinions were expressed in favor of the lack of expertise of physical education teachers, it was understood that they were sufficient in problem solving skills. Suggestions were made for physical education teachers to purge their ego, read books, attend seminars, constantly renew their personal development, and access up-to-date information about other sports branches besides their fields of expertise.
