Abstract :Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate cancer information on hospital web sites. Patients and Methods: The study universe consisted of 35 health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, which provides health services in the city of Bursa, Turkey. The web sites were evaluated by researchers using a checklist developed to check the information related to cancer. We were able to obtain data from 14 hospitals’ web pages that contain information about the hospitals. Results: 51.4% of hospital web pages belong to private medical centers and 40% of them had information about cancer. 57.1% of the web sites’ general information was on cancer. When the details of the information content were examined; Cancer causes were 21.4% , protection and treatment were %???. 28.6% had recommendations and referrals and 50% included new treatment approaches. Most of the web sites include medical terminology 78.6% ; a very small percentage of the web sites have details on updates 7.1% . The length of the information was 1-2 pages and 21.4% of them prepared by physicians. There was a link on 14.3% of the web sites. Only 57.1% of the web sites included pictures. Conclusion: The hospitals’ web sites’ information has different content and coverage. However, it is expected that the basic information about cancer will be presented accurately and effectively on the web pages. The basic criteria for the development of web pages could be useful for providing more effective information to internet users
