Abstract :In this study, a case with a psychotic disorder related to cannabis use and patient counseling process are discussed. Between June and July 2014, the patient was followed up with a total of 8 visits at home once a week. The patient’s high motivation and commitment to change during the counseling process could not be maintained due to the lack of social support, some family conflicts, social isolation, unwillingness to carry out the assigned assignments and lack of suitable peer support. This situation was a stalemate for the psychiatric nurse who supported this process despite the skills and awareness acquired during the counseling process. The patient returned to substance use approximately three months after the counseling process was completed. It is considered that it will be beneficial to apply enhancement therapies with certain intervals within a year after completing the counseling process in patients with substance use disorder
