Abstract :Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of childbirth preparation courses on labor anxiety, labor process, stay of the baby with mother, and breastfeeding of the baby in early periods. Study Design: This study was of a semi-experimental type and included 166 pregnant mothers who accepted to participate in the study and 920 mothers who had given birth at Eskişehir State Hospital between April 2013 and September 2013. 55 mothers who accepted to participate in the course were classified as the study group while 111 mothers who did not accept to participate in the course were classified as the control group. The data were collected through data collection forms prepared by researchers. The analysis of the data was made via IBM SPSS, version 21.0. Results: 49.1% n=27 of the mothers who participated in the course and 23.4% n=26 of the mothers who did not participated in the course gave birth in 1-5 hours after being admitted to the hospital. The rates of normal birth and cesarean were similar in both groups p = 0.810 .
