Abstract :Aim: To examine the psychometric properties of Health Literacy Scale for Turkish Diabetic Patients. Methods: Study was conducted as a methodological study with cross-sectional design. One hundred forty Type 2 diabetes patients, diagnosed for diabetes at least one year, were included in study. Results: Cronbach alpha coefficient for total scale was 0.96; 0.96 for functional, 0.91 for interactive and 0.96 for critical dimensions. All dimensions were consistent in factor analysis; however, some items were found to belong to different dimensions in adapted scale. Conclusions: Turkish version of scale is a valid and reliable tool to assess health literacy levels of diabetic patients.
