Abstract :Radiotherapy is a reliable and effective treatment method that causes minimum damage to the surrounding tissues in head and neck cancers. Although head and neck cancer prevalence is lesser when compared with other cancer types, the physical/functional and psychosocial changes related to the disease and its treatment may cause difficulties in the daily activities of individuals. Among the physical/functional negative changes, changes in physical appearance, changes in eating, speaking, and voice, and also pain and fatigue are very important. The psychosocial effects of radiotherapy are changes in body perception, lower self-esteem, social isolation, decreased social activities, anxiety, changes in working life, difficulties in performing daily functions, and changes in family life. The control of symptoms that develop in the early and late stages due to treatment is important for patients to tackle these changes effectively. The early detection of possible problems, and the presentation of problemoriented solutions will increase treatment compliance, and quality of life of the patientsKeywords : Head and neck cancer, radiotherapy, symptoms, symptom control
