Abstract :Aim: The aim was to determine the problems experienced by nurses who had just started working at hospitals. Material and Methods: As first step of this descriptive study a permission from the General Directorate of State Hospitals Association in Trabzon Province was obtained. The study was conducted with 63 voluntary nurses of the total 71 nurses. The data were gathered using a questionnaire addressing the demographic characteristics and the problems experienced by the nurses through face to face interviews or e-mails between the 2nd of January and the 3rd of March 2014. Data was calculated in frequencies, percentages, using chi-square test.Results: 57,1% of the nurses were working at central hospitals and 68.3% of them worked at services. It was found out that 90,5% of the nurses were not pleased with the "pay for performance” system, 90,5% complained about the unjust pay system in the health sector, 85,7% complained of patients asking questions about every intervention and demanding answers to these questions and 82,5% complained about being subjects of an abuse when they showed an interest in a patient?. The nurses were also not happy with the nursing management for not providing information on career opportunities when they started work 79.4% , with physicians because they considered themselves as chief officers of nurses 76.2% and with the hospital management, which was considered responsible for the insufficient number of personnel 77.8% . Nurses who worked at county hospitals experienced more often the feeling of being insufficient in professional skills and the lack of enthusiasm and eagerness to work as nurses while nurses who worked at province hospitals experienced more problems with patients because physicians slept during night shifts pKeywords : Nursing, nurses, nursing staff, hospital
