Abstract :The history of Jehovah’s Witnesses began more than a hundred years ago. Today the Watchtower Society has over 6 million active Jehovah’s Witnesses all around the world spreading its doctrines in 235 countries. Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse blood transfusions, which they consider a violation of God’s law even in "a life-or-death situation”. According to a report published in 2004, the total number of Jehovah’s Witnesses in our country whose population is 67 million and which consists of 32 communities, is 1784. In recent years, with technological developments and improvements in surgical experiences, surgical interventions especially cardiac are practised with a low risk to patients in societies who refuse blood transfusions such as Jehovah’s Witnesses. However, as in our case report, experiences and data about procedures that could be done in severe anemia which develops unexpectedly following peripheral vascular surgery are quite few. Therefore, in our case report, our experiences with our patient who was a Jehovah’s Witness with severe anemia following peripheral vascular surgery are mentionedKeywords : Jehova’s witness, peripheral vascular surgery, anemia
