Abstract :Purpose: In this study, antimicrobial Susceptibility of 218 Klebsiella spp. strains isolated from various clinical samples was investigated in our hospital. Patients and Methods: Vitek 2 bioMérieux, France automatised system was used for identification and antibiotic susceptibility tests, and susceptibility results were determined according to the guidelines of CLSI. Results: Klebsiella spp. strains were frequently isolated from urine 147, 67% , blood 32, 15% , wound 20, 9% and tracheal aspirate 13, 6% samples. The rates of ESBL production that was detected in all isolated-strain were 33% 71/218 , in K.pneumoniae is 35% 67,193 , in K.oxytoca is 16% 4/25 . The resistance rate was 9% in all isolates-strains for the only beta-lactam antibiotic, carbapenem group that can be used in the treatment of infections caused by ESBL producing strains. Amikacin 99% sensitive, 216/218 was found to be the most efficient antibiotic for all strains. Conclusion: Our study represents first regional datas for Klebsiella spp. strains that would help to determine a local approach to Klebsiella spp infections and to develop policies for antibiotic use. Keywords : Klebsiella, antibiotic susceptibility, ESBL
