Abstract :Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the association between clinical status of children with cerebral palsy CP and symptoms of depression in their parents with particular attention to mothers’ perceptions. Patients and Methods: Parents 40 mothers, 22 fathers of children 24 males, 16 females with CP aged 4-28 years being educated in a private rehabilitation center participated in this cross-sectional study. Gross Motor Function Classification System, Beck Depression Inventory BDI , and Modified Ashworth Scale were used. The measurements included mothers’ ratings of their children’s mental handicap and problem behaviour level 2-point scale yes/no and 10-cm-visual analog scale, respectively . Demographic informations were collected as well as information on home exercises, functional status and care giving roles. Results: According to mothers, 40% of their children had mental handicap. Mean problem behavior level was 4.9. 45% of the mothers, and 40% of the fathers had depressive symptoms above the cut off on BDI.
