Abstract :Aim: This descriptive study was conducted in order to determine the job satisfaction level and factors affecting job satisfaction of employees in a research and training hospital specialized in for mental health and psychological disorders. Study Design: ASurvey was distributed to all employees working in this hospital n=834 . Sixhundred-thirty workers 75.2% of all employees agreeing to participate in the survey were included in the study. Data were collected via the Job Satisfaction Scale Variance Analysis ANOVA , Tukey-HSD, unpaired t testi and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used for statistical analysis of data. Results: The mean job satisfaction score of the workers according to the Job Satisfaction Scale was 44.3±11.8, and this result showed that the job satisfaction level of workers was poor compared to the average of the scale. The worker’s mean scores differed according to various items "being a member of a team” yielded the highest job satisfaction scores 55.8 and "satisfaction with salary” produced the lowest scores 30.9 . Factors, affecting job satisfaction were age, living environment, with whom to live, having child/children, responsibility for a baby, total service process of living with the family institutes and units they work, working time, working styles and workload duration of affiliation, their working system, night shifts, working at weekend, weekly working time, how they had choosen their occupation and their health condition p< 0.05 . Factors that had no effect on job satisfaction were education, marital status and previously being employed at another job p≥ 0.05 . Conclusion: According to the results, some recommendations were presented to the hospital administration to increase job satisfaction levels of the workers, and thus, improve the quality of service, and assist researchers to perform future studies concerning job satisfaction.Keywords : worker, job satisfaction, hospital, service, occupation
