Abstract :Purpose:The aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes and thoughts of teachers who are role models in society. Patients and Methods:This study was conducted in Hakkâri between October and December 2018 with 354 teachers. Results:The mean age of the participants was 27.7 ± 4.5 and 54.2% (n = 192) were female and 45.8% (n = 162) were male.The first smoking age was 17.5 ± 3.5 years, and the most common reason for starting smoking was curiosity (57%). Among smoker participants, nicotine dependence was very low (43.5%). The most common reason for participants to quit smoking was fear of sickness in the future (66.3%). 47.5% of the participants thought that the ban on smoking in public areas was necessary, 40% was late, and 12.4% said that the ban was unnecessary.48% of the participants thought that the ban on recreational services such as restaurants, coffee houses, cafeterias, pubs, etc. were necessary, 30.5% were late and 21.5% were unnecessary. Conclusion:Teachers with role models in the community need education in harming and reducing smoking.Keywords : Teacher, smoking, society, attitude
