Abstract :After the Ottoman Empire was defeated in the first World War, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk led the war of independence and the new Turkish state which passed from the reign of Sultanate to the Republic faced a major problem in the Treaty of Lausanne with the Entente States. This problem was the "Population Exchange” which dated on January 30, 1923. A new debate has begun with The "Prisoner and population exchange” agreement signed by the Turkish and Greek sides on this date, and the public opinion of the other foreign states, especially for the United States, it has been examined day by day. Many reports were shared in the world press, claiming that the exchange decision was a violation of human rights and criticisms. The main theme that we will take into consideration in this study will be the opinions and news that are discussed in the UK public opinion on exchange in the English press. The main sources of inquiry are the Guardian, The Observer, Daily Herald, Leeds Mercury, Northern Whig, Sheffield Daily Telegraph, etc. And the main aim of our study is to show what reactions the British public had in the days of Lausanne, when the exchange rate and the decision to exchange rate emerged. Keywords : English Public, Population Exchange, The Treaty Of Lousanne, Goverments of Turks and Greece
