Quest For Significance And Some Psychological Symptoms of Adult Individuals

Abstract :This paper aims to examine the quest for significance in adults according to their demographic variables and determine the correlational relationships between their quest for significance and psychological symptoms. The participants of this study, which was designed according to the survey method; a total of 605 adults are 383 females and 222 males in the age range of 18-65 years. Significance Quest Scale, Symptom Checklist and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools. T-test, ANOVA and simple linear regression method were applied in the analysis of the data obtained from the measurement tools. As a result of the research, a significant difference was determined according to adults’ age and income levels. On the other hand, no significant difference was found in terms of gender. A low level of positive correlation was found between their quest for significance and the psychological symptoms of paranoid thoughts, anger/hostility, and interpersonal sensitivity. The results of the research were interpreted and discussed in line with the relevant literature.Keywords : Önem arayışı, , Psikolojik belirtiler, , Yetişkin bireyler
