Turkish adaptation of attitude towards mathematics instrument / Matematiğe ilişkin tutum ölçeği’nin Türkçe’ye uyarlama çalışması

Abstract :Purpose of this study is to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish adaptation of The Attitudes towards Mathematics Inventory by Tapia (1996). In this study, data gathered from 210 elementary pre-service teachers were used for Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis to determine the structure of factor loading. The factor loading among the sub-scales showed some differences in comparison to the number of the factors in original instrument. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the overall instrument was found as 0.785. The adapted instrument includes 32 items placed on a 5-point likert type scale. The instrument includes 2 sub-scales: self-efficacy and value of mathematics. The instrument is valid and reliable and appropriate to use in Turkish culture.Keywords : Matematik, tutum, sınıf öğretmeni adayı, öğretmen eğitimi, ölçek uyarlama
