Abstract :Sodium feldspar (Na 2 O.Al 2 O 3 .6SiO 2 ) (SF) is one of the most important melting materials used in glass fabrication due to its low iron ratios. On the other hand, SF mineral used by glass industry is subjected to classification process in terms of quality before use which are divided into two grades as A and B. The A quality products are preferred in glass production, while B quality product is considered as waste due to its inadequate physical and chemical properties. To produce glazed porcelain with the high sintering quality, SF minerals are introduced wt.30-55% into the matrix by the ceramics industry. However, SF minerals used in the glazed porcelain fabrication are only supplied from a few mineral resources in certain regions Turkey. Due to the increasing demands of SF with the increasing production rates, the ceramic industry looks for other SF sources to produce glazed porcelain with lower costs without compromising on quality. The aim of this study is to utilize the waste SF by-products to produce glazed porcelain tiles and to reduce production costs without sacrificing its quality. Keywords : Sodium feldspar, Glazed porcelain, water absorption, Recycling of waste minerals
