Abstract :The aim of the this study is to examine the opinions of science teachers working at secondary schools on the Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education (TEOG) exam system, which was the prior examination system applied in our country during the period of 2013-2017, in terms of their gender and years of professional experience. The present study employed survey method which compares and associates the differences of at least two groups in terms of a certain variable. The sample of the study consisted of 50 science teachers working at secondary schools in Kars province during the 2016-2017 academic year. As the data collection tool, "Teacher Evaluation Scale towards Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education" was administered to science teachers. While descriptive statistics such as arithmetic means and standard deviation are used in the analysis of the data, independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA for comparisons, Tukey HSD test for multiple comparisons was used. In the findings section of the study, tables of descriptive statistics concerning the general views of science teachers gathered through the " Teacher Evaluation Scale towards Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education " are presented. In addition, it was examined whether there is a significant difference between the items in the scale and the variables such as the science teachers’ genders and the years of professional experience, and the related findings are represented in tables. As a result of descriptive statistics, it was found out that science teachers' opinions for the items in the " Teacher Evaluation Scale towards Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education” were generally positive, and they had moderate opinions for some of the items in the scale. It was also ascertained that both female and male science teachers had positively agreed with the items in the scale, and there were no significant differences between the genders. As a result of the analysis of science teachers’ agreement with the statements in the scale in terms of their years of experience, no significant differences were detected between their years of experiences and most of the items in the scale. Additionally, based on the results of multiple comparisons conducted to determine which groups yielded significant, it was determined that science teachers with 6-10 years had the highest score, and teachers with 11 years and above had the lowest average score. Keywords : Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education Exam (TEOG)
