Abstract :The article assesses changes in air quality resulting from COVID-19 containment measures, aiming to identify key drivers and potential long-term consequences for public health and environmental policies. Through a systematic analysis of peer-reviewed articles, scientific reports, and credible data sources, a meticulous literature search and study selection process were conducted. The chosen studies were thoroughly examined and synthesized, revealing a clear correlation between containment measures and enhanced air quality. The reduction in industrial activities, transportation, and human mobility during the pandemic led to diminished emissions of pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM), resulting in improved urban air quality and reduced health risks. In summary, the COVID-19 pandemic offers an opportunity to observe the positive impact of reduced human activities on air quality. To maintain cleaner air and protect public health in future crises, an endorsement of sustainable practices and policies is recommended. Policymakers should prioritize actions such as investing in renewable energy, promoting telecommuting, and improving public transportation. Additionally, robust monitoring systems are crucial for tracking air quality changes during potential future pandemics and facilitating evidence-based decision-making.Keywords : COVID-19, pandemic, air quality, relationship, implications, industrial activities
