Abstract :In our country air transportatioıı started in 1933 between Ankara, Eskişehir and Istanbul Airports were built in the important cities and soon air transportations were wide spread. International flights began between Ankara- Istanbul and Athens in 1947. Yeşilköy was fırst used in 195 for international flights and Esenboğa in 1955. Today Turkish Airlines arrange journeys from İstanbul orfrom Ankara to our cities and also from İstanbul to other 60 important cities in the world. Until 1983 there was only Turkish Airlines but tlıen private companies began to work. Turkish Airlines had only 5 planes in 1933 but today it is the most important airline in the MiddleEast. After 1940, number ofpassengers increased especially because of the development of tourism. 62.7% o f it belongs to International lines and 37.3% for domestic lines. However 28% of it belongsforeign companies. At the beginning cargo transportation was only for luggages and posts, but then, every kind of goods was begun to transport and in 1995 it reached to 576.920 ton 60% o f total cargo transportation was made at Atatürk Airport.Keywords : Hava ulaşımının tarihi gelişimi
