Abstract :The purpose of th i s art i cle i s to reveal the parallels between the econom i c proposals a i med at protect i ng the i r nat i ons of Gökalp and L i st. As known, L i st i s accepted as the i nsp i rat i on for Gökalp’s v i ews, and the founder of the German school of "Nat i onal Econom i cs”. W i th i n the scope of th i s subject, a br i ef background of the establ i shment of econom i cs as a sc i ence, and then, the emergence of the concept of "nat i onal econom i cs” i s prov i ded. The presentat i on of L i st’s v i ews i s followed by Gökalp’s v i ews on econom i c matters i n a comparat i ve perspect i ve. Under World War I cond i t i ons, wh i ch was the beg i nn i ng of a new h i story for nat i onal econom i cs i n Tur- key, Gökalp, l i ke L i st, bel i eved that i t would not be just to i mplement the Br i t i sh eco- nom i c pol i cy i n an econom i cally underdeveloped country ravaged by wars.
