Abstract :This study investigates the patterns of academic performance by gender in a developing country in a stereotypical male profession and non-feminine career path. Data are gathered from Business Administration students of Bilkent University, Turkey. The findings of the present study correlates with earlier studies in western cultures in that (1) female accounting students outperform male accounting students significantly, (2) the interactive relationship between the gender of the instructor and the gender of the students suggest that female students do significantly better with female instructors. Keywords : gender, academic performance
