Abstract :ÖZET Haçlı Seferleri, Bizans İmparatoru I. Aleksios’un Türkleri Anadolu’dan atmak için Papa II. ABSTRACT The Crusades started as a result of Aleksios I, Emperor of Byzantine seeking help from Pope Urbanus II to banish Turks from Anatolia. The Pope initiated a wide military plan while using Aleksios's demand of military assistance for Europe's interest. This military movement, which started in 1096 and lasted approximately for 2 centuries, was approved broadly in Europe by showing religious sentiments on its foreground. This study focuses on the first of the Crusades: People's Crusade. At the first stage, emerging of idea of the crusade and how this idea spred in Europe through Pope Urbanus II's call are approached. Then, Eastern operations of the People's Crusade, which gathered under lidership of Pierre L'ermitte and which resembled an undisciplined and unorganized group rather than an army, and their actions in the area are analyzed. After mentioning that the People's Crusades reached borders of Anatolian Seljuks and that almost all of them were perished by Kılıj Arslan's forces, consequences of this movement are examined. Finally, how the People's Crusade conributed to the next crusade, known as the First Crusade, to succeed substantially is discussed in the study. Keywords : Halk Haçlıları, Clermont Konsili, Pierre L’ermitte, Meteliksiz Gautier, Dragon Savaşı
