Abstract :Background: To determine changes in quality of life (QOL), sleep quality (SQ) and daytime sleepiness in patients diagnosed as Crow 4 high dislocations after treating with total hip arthroplasty (THA). There isn’t enough data in the literature about changes on QOL, SQ and daytime sleepiness in patients with Crowe 4 high dislocations treated by THA. Methods: A total of 38 patients diagnosed as Crowe 4 high dislocations and treated by THA in the last 3 years participated for the study. 36- item short form survey questionnaire (SF-36), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) were applied to all subjects before and 6 months after the surgery and compared. Results: QOL scores and SQ showed an increase in post-operative period with statistically significant in subdimensions such as general health, physical well-being, vitality, physical functioning and bodily pain of SF-36 and in subdimensions such as sleep disturbances, sleep latency, and day dysfunction scores of PSQI. No statistically differences between the mean scores of ESS observed. Conclusion: Our study is a unique study in the literature, which shows the positive effects of surgery in different directions such as QOL, SQ and daytime sleepiness by questionnaires in a homogeneous group treated with the same surgical method. Keywords : Health related quality of life, sleep quality, crowe 4 hip arthroplasty, sf-36, PSQI
