Abstract :Mentorship award winners from the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) provided their experiences with mentorship. We compared both qualitative and quantitative responses to alignment with the ACES research mentorship guidelines, Rheineck Mentoring Model, previous research, and best practices. Participants reported ethical and cross-cultural considerations with mentees; with counselor educators still struggling with what mentorship looks like and how to provide effective mentorship around publication and research, specifically scientific integrity. Findings indicate alignment with the best practices in the profession, but outline a need for research mentorship for developing professionals. Keywords : Counseling, Mentor, ACES research mentorship guidelines, Rheineck mentoring model, Social justice
