Abstract :The article is devoted to the study of debatable issues of tourist terminology. The author of the article analyzed tourist terms as a lexical unit of the Russian language. The analysis was based on the opinions of famous Russian linguists. The author's attention is focused on the analysis of the meaning of adjectives formed from the nouns «tourist» and «tourism». They form two-component tourist terms used in the field of vocational education and science. The purpose of the article was not to critically analyze the different opinions. The author shows the expediency of using a single and precise terminology in the legal, professional and scientific fields of tourism.
