Abstract :The causal links between the birth and deployment of the modern scientific technological revolution (STR) and its most important social consequences are considered. The focus is on the risks of mass unemployment. It is proved that the treatment of the results of the scientific and technological revolution for the benefit of the majority of the population and the solution of the most important social tasks, including the maintenance of employment, is possible only in a planned economy.
