Iron Age Ceramics of the Uylupınar (Early Cibyra) Settlement

Abstract :The Uylupınar/Göl Island settlement is called Şehertaşı, located in the northeast of Uylupınar Lake, 18 km southeast of Gölhisar county in Burdur. From the examinations carried out on the examples found in the Uylupınar survey the settlement had interactions with the surrounding regions. In researches carried out in Uylupınar and its surrounding settlements, there are examples produced under the influence of Geometric Style, Orientalizing Style, Wild Goat Style. Among these examples, vessels with concentric circle decoration, line decoration, zigzag, triangle, braid, guilloche, swastika, fish scale, and marble imitation decoration produced in Geometric, Orientalizing and Archaic Period ceramics were examined. Plant type decorations are palmette and clover rosette. Examples of animal figures are goose, dog, and wild goat. The examples found in Uylupınar settlement were found to be locally produced under the influences from Ionia, Lydia, and, Phrygia. The examples recovered from this settlement from the Geometric and Archaic Periods are chronologically dated to the VIIth-VIth century B.C.Keywords : Yerel Üretim, Kabalis/Kabalia, Demir Çağı Seramikleri, Uylupınar
