Abstract :Additional records of Staphylinidae species from Turkey, Syria, and Iran are presented, including the first country records of Proteinus laevigatus Hochhuth, 1872 from Turkey, Astenus melanurus (Küster, 1853), and Luzea nigritula (Kraatz, 1857) from Syria, and Astenus procerus (Gravenhorst, 1806) from Iran. Th e Staphylinidae is most diverse family of the order Coleoptera, comprising about 57,000 species belonging to 33 subfamilies in all zoogeographical regions of the world (Herman, 2001; Newton, 2007; and updated to the end of 2009 from unpublished Newton database catalog). Compared to most other regions of the Western Palaearctic, the current knowledge of the staphylinid fauna of Turkey, Syria, and Iran is still poor. So far, 1600 species and subspecies of Staphylinidae have been recorded from Turkey (Anlaş, 2007, 2009). According to the catalogue by Löbl and Smetana (2004) and Anlaş and Newton (2010), 594 species from Iran and about 200 species from Syria are hitherto knownKeywords : new records, Turkey, Syria, Iran
