Effects of Some Hormones and Humidity Levels on Rooting of Softwood Top Cuttings of Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium L.)

Abstract :In this study, softwood top cuttings were taken from 10-year old sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) type grown in Alaaddin Keykubat campus in Konya. The softwood cuttings taken from in early June were rooted in pumice medium under misting system after treating with 0 (control), 500, 1500, 2500 ppm and 3500 ppm Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) under 2 different humidity of 85-90 % and 95-100 %. After having the cuttings rooted, obtaining shoots were investigated. In the research, all the cuttings were alive and getting root. Callus formation of control groups were in both of the humidity level. Rooting ratio showed high level with the hormon application. The highest rooting ratio was found from 1500 ppm IBA aplication (83.3 %) and 85-90 % relative humidity level. Length of rooting surface was found in hormon applications than control groups. Getting rise of hormon dose, length of rooting surface increased. The highest surface length were found from 3500 ppm IBA application (2.750cm) in 85-90 % relative humidity. In point of root number, the highest value showed 1500 ppm IBA application (10.0 number/cutting) in 85-90 % relative humidity. The longest root was found from 1500 ppm hormone dose (3.628cm) in the 85-90 % humidity level, the shortest one was 1500 ppm IBA hormone application (0.092cm) in 85-90 % humidity level. In point of root branching, the highest value was found from 1500 ppm hormone application (2.208 number/cutting), neither control group nor 1500 ppm hormone application in 95-100 % humidity level were not obtained (0 number/cutting).Keywords : Kiraz, yeşil uç çelik, sisleme sistemi, nem, hormon, köklendirme
