Abstract :This research was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Selçuk University in 2002 and 2003 for determination the effects of four nitrogen doses on grain yield and yield components of a sweet sorghum. A Bulgarian sweet sorghum variety (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench var. saccharatum) was used as material and four nitrogen doses (7.5, 12, 15 and 18 kg da-1) applied in the experiment. According to the results of the research; nitrogen doses constituted significant differences for grain yield, leaf number per plant, kernel weight per panicle, kernel/ panicle ratio per plant, kernel number per panicle, stem number per m2, plant height and stem diameter per plant in 2002 and for grain yield, kernel weight per panicle, kernel/panicle ratio per plant, kernel number per panicle, stem number per m2 and plant height in 2003. Differences determined were not significant for stem weight per plant and 1000 kernel weight in 2002 and leaf number per plant, stem weight per plant, 1000 kernel weight and stem diameter per plant in 2003. The values obtained in 2002 and 2003 ranged between 966.00 -1073.00 kg.da-1, 608.00 - 681.00 kg.da-1 in grain yield; 9.03 - 9.80, 9.30 - 9.60 in leaf number per plant; 516.70 - 563.00 g, 255.00 - 275.00 g in stem weight per plant; 67.00 - 83.00 g, 41.00 - 52.70 g in kernel weight per panicle; 63.70 - 68.70 %, 63.00 -68.30 % in kernel/panicle ratio per plant; 2784.00 - 3367.00, 1703.00 - 2135.00 in kernel number per panicle; 24.07 - 24.75 g, 24.50 - 24.70 g in 1000 kernel weight; 26.70 - 35.70, 28.00 - 32.00 in stem number per m2; 235.30 - 241.10 cm, 200.30 - 224.30 cm in plant height and 2.12 - 2.35 cm, 1.83 - 1.93 cm in stem diameter per plant, respectively. The results revealed that increases in investigated traits due to nitrogen doses were significant up to 15 kg N da-1 and not significant at 18 kg N da-1.Keywords : Şeker koca darısı (Sorghum saccharatum (L.)
