In EU, sixteen Farm Structure Surveys (FSS) of which the first was in 1966 and the last was 2007 were implemented up to now. While the surveys implemented in 1970/71, 1979/80, 1989/90 and 1999/2000 were the general agricultural censuses, the others were the sample surveys. FSS have been mainly implemented base on Council Regulation (EEC) No 571/88 on the "Organization of Community surveys on the structure of agricultural holdings”. To execute a new FSS regulation developing in the frame of changing agricultural structure and needs is at final stage in EU. In this article; the information on the aim, context, historical development, legal basis, characteristics, new regulation of FSS implemented in EU and the studies carried out in Turkey about FSS is given. Keywords : Tarım istatistikleri, Çiftlik yapı anketi
