Abstract :This study was carried out to determine the effect of potassium rates applied by drip irrigation on the yield and the quality of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) on the experimental fields of Sugar Institute in Ankara, Turkey between 2009 and 2010. The experimental design was randomized block with 4 replicates. Four potassium rates (25, 50, 75 and 100 kg K2O ha-1) were applied by drip irrigation system. Data were made on root yield, sugar content, estimated extractable sugar content, white sugar yield, α-amino N, sodium and potassium contents. Effects of applied potassium rates were not found statically significant on yield and quality of sugar beet in drip irrigation in 2009 and 2010 however the highest root yield was obtained at 75 kg ha-1 potassium rate in 2009 and 25 kg ha-1 potassium rate in 2010. While the highest sugar content was obtained at 25 kg ha-1 potassium rate in 2009, it was obtained at 50 kg ha-1 potassium rate in 2010.Keywords : Şeker pancarı, Damla sulama, Potasyum, Verim, Kalite
