Abstract :In the study, operating characteristics of hammer mill which is 360 degree surrounded by the changeable screen produced in Konya were determined. The trials were performed on annulus velocities of the hammers at 35, 50 and 65 ms-1, screen sizes in 4, 6 and 8 mm diameter and delivery orifice space in 2000 and 4000 mm2 . The resulting total surface area of particles was used to determine the presence of statistically significant treatment differences in the MINITAB statistical program and analyzed using MSTAT software and the differences between factors the treatments were determined by LSD test. According to results, grinding capacity, grinding force and specific power consumption values were obtained between 50.82 and 332.10 kg/h, 0.10 and 1.43 kW, and 1.14 and 7.86 103 kWh/kg, respectively. Grinding determines the quality of geometric mean diameter of the particle values between 1010.16 and 2936.83 µ, and also geometric standard deviation of particle diameter values between 1.14 and 1.88 were found to show a change. Depending on the geometric diameter and standard deviation values, total surface area of particles in 100g sample was calculated and these values varied between 1.55 and 5.38 m2kg–1 , respectively. In the high peripheral speed and at the smallest screen diameter, which was gotten the smallest average diameter values, were obtained the biggest total surface area of particles values.Keywords : Çekiçli değirmen, Partikül büyüklük dağılımı, Geometrik ortalama çap, Özgül güç tüketimi
