Abstract :This study was conducted in Research and Applied Area of the Faculty of Agri-culture at Çukurova University during the years of 2005-2006, aims were inves-tigated at the efficiency of alternative control methods for weed that can be used in the organic cultivation of eggplant and peppers were investigated. In the re-search, black polyethylene mulch, straw mulch, hand hoeing, cover crop and control applications were used alternative as weed control methods, and effects of the applications on to uptake of plant nutrients, growth and development of the plant and yield. At the end of the studies conducted, it was determined that the most efficient application was the black polyethylene mulch. On the fields where this material was applicated, it was observed that the criterias for plant growth and development and yield displayed higher results compared with oth-ers except for the plant nutrient uptake. The highest plant height (eggplant; 70.93 cm, pepper; 50.15 cm), stem diameter (eggplant; 16.62 mm, pepper; 12.74 mm) and number of leaf (eggplant; 28.44 leaves, pepper; 54.93 leaves) were obtained with this application. Likewise, the highest values of yield were obtained from black polyethylene mulch (eggplant; 3774 kg da-1, pepper; 2731 kg da-1). It was detected that the alternative control methods for weed have any no significant influences onto uptake of plants nutrients. Keywords : Organik tarım, Yabancı ot, Malç, Sebze, Bitki büyüme ve gelişme kriterleri, Verim
