Bunt Disease of Wheat Crop Harvested in Konya and The Reactions of Some Wheat Varieties Against Bunt Disease

Abstract :The present study conducted in 2003 and 2004 was undertaken to determine the prevalence of bunt disease based on the existance of bunted grains in wheat crop harvested in Konya city and the reactions of some wheat varieties against the disease. The prevalence ratio of the disease in the wheat crop harvested in Konya region was detected as 16.98 %. The highest prevalence ratio was found as 40 % from Akşehir county. The disease was not detected in the samples obtained from Karapınar and Seydieşehir counties. As a result of microscopic examination of chlamidiospores from bunted grains, only Tilletia foetida (Wallr.)Liro. was detected in all samples. The disease values were determined to vary between 0.0 and 75.64 in the experiment in which the reactions of 20 different wheat varieties against T. foetida was investigated. The highest disease values were determined as 75.64, 56.14, 54.47, 54.07 and 51.90 in Konya 2002, Aksel 2000, Yıldız 98, Seri-82, and Yakar wheat varieties, respectively while the lowest values were obtained from Karahan-99, Atay-85, Kıraç-66 and Sönmez 2001 varieties as 0,00 %.Keywords : Konya, Buğday, Sürme hastalığı, Yaygınlık, Çeşit reaksiyonu, Tilletia foetida.
