Abstract :Present-day cities have been changing into such habitats which contain physical, social, biological and hygienic problems and in which the open and green areas are consumed rapidly due to the effects of fast industrialization and urbanization. By improving the relationship between human and nature, the open and green areas which are consid-ered to have some physical, climatic, hygienic, recreational, psychological functions as well as help fulfill urban aes-thetics are of great importance in making the cities as habitable places of high environmental quality. In this research, with the aim of looking into the open and green areas of the historical city center of Konya, first, developed suggestions concerning the open and green areas in the city plans prepared for city of Konya, in the city itself and in the area in which the research was conducted have been examined and by using the information and the documents grasped from the field work and related foundations and establishments, the features of the open and green areas of the city and the area where the research was conducted have been unveiled. In the light of the researches conducted and the insights grasped, some proposals concerning the improvement of the open and green area quality of historical city centre of Konya have been put in.Keywords : Açık ve yeşil alan, tarihi kent merkezi, Konya.
