Abstract :Virtual reality has proved its effectiveness in cognitive and behavioral therapies, particularly exposure therapies, for a wide range of mental disorders. Whether in symptoms detection or treatment, virtual reality has been used for the past 25 years and its techniques are constantly evolving. In this article we present and analyze a state of the art of the most recent work including Virtual Reality in psychotherapy for various mental disabilities, and thus cite the strengths of each study and deduce its weaknesses and shortcomings. The aim of this article is also to look beyond what is being done today, and to navigate towards new promising fields that can be included in psychotherapy Like Machine Learning and Affective Computing that could play a very important role in the future of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy.Keywords : Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Exposure Therapy, Cognitive and behavioural Therapy, Affective Computing
