Abstract :It is necessary to understand the concept of transactional distance perception, which is seen as an obstacle, before carrying out efficient, effective and attractive instructional practices in distance education and which could effect the quality of the interactions between student, teacher, interface and medium elements and to reduce this distance perception. This study aims to discuss the theory of transactional distance which led to the existence of the concept of transactional distance perception as well as the components of this theory which are dialogue, structure and autonomy. Later the study examines the impact of these components on transactional distance perception. Information presented in the study was obtained via field survey. The reflections of the concept of transactional distance perception on curriculum, content and practices in distance education are discussed and various suggestions are made on reducing this distance perceptionKeywords : uzaktan eğitim, işlemsel uzaklık, diyalog, yapı, öğrenen özerkliği
