Examining the factors affecting the subjective well-being of high school students

Abstract :The primary purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence the subjective well-being of high school students. The data of this qualitative study, which was designed as a case study, were obtained from face-to-face interviews with 34 students studying in high schools. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. The data was analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results revealed that the subjective well-being of students is influenced by factors that increase and reduce life satisfaction, along with positive and negative events they experience. Be- sides, this study has identified how subjective well-being is understood by students and reflected in their lives, along with the ways that students follow to increase their levels of subjective well-being. The results were discussed in line with the related literature and some suggestions were presentedKeywords : Case study, content analysis, high school student, qualitative research, subjective well-being
