Abstract :The present study aims to determine gender role stress and affecting factors in female university students. The participants of this cross-sectional study consisted of 856 female students studying in all faculties of a university in Western Turkey. Data was collected using a personal information form, the Feminine Gender Role Stress Scale, and the Parental Attitude Scale. In the data analysis, the Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman’s Correlation tests and multiple regression analysis were used. According to the multiple regression model, the students’ faculty, year of study, parents’ type of marriage, and religious beliefs were significant predictors of the women’s stress levels relating to gender roles. It was determined that the students’ religious beliefs were the most important predictor of the stress level of gender roles. In order to prevent social gender inequity, women should be enabled to benefit equally and evenly in the areas of education, employment, and health. Keywords : Toplumsal cinsiyet rolü, toplumsal cinsiyet rolü stresi, toplumsal cinsiyet, kadın toplumsal cinsiyet rolü stresi, Üniversite, Gender, Gender role, Gender role stress, Feminine gender role stress, University
