Abstract :In this paper, I investigate mainly how fatal terrorist attacks affect voter turnout in regions of the Turkey. Following terrorist attacks voter might get motivated to vote, or get pessimistic so that do not vote. I propose that positive motivations prevails if electoral system produces viable solution against terrorism. Because terrorism is long term, persistent issue in Turkey one might get suspicious about whether voter turnout rates should be higher if terrorism has not been long term problem. Estimation results confirm that Turkish electorates less prone to vote as casualties from terrorist activities increase. Additionally, econometric results display that regions performing well economically tend to have higher voter turnout rates, whereas voter turnout is lower in the regions having much crime rates, more middle and older age population, and female population. Keywords : Voter Turnout, Terrorism, Fixed Effect Model
