Abstract :The objectives of the current study were twofold : a) to determine the relationship between performance in the Yo-Yo intermittent recovery test level 1 (YIRT1), 20-m multi-stage shuttle run test (MST) with measured maximal oxygen uptake (VO 2 max) in Treadmill test (TRT), b) to examine the differences in heart rate (HR) responses to the YIRT, MST and treadmill tests (TRT) in young soccer players. Thirteen amateur soccer players ( mean age: 15.38±0.51, mean height: 177.38±5.53cm, body mass 69.36± 5.48kg, VO2max 60.22 ± 1.47 ml/kg/min) volunteered for the study. Comparisons were made using ANOVA and the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient (r) was used to determine the relationship between the players’ performance and VO 2max . There was no differences found among the HR max values of YIRT, MST and TRT. There was found significant correlation between VO 2max and both YIRT and MST performance respectively (r=.89 and r= 78) (p<0.05). Both MST ant YIRT could be used to determine HR max of soccer players and also MST and YIRT have strong relationship with VO 2max , thus they may also be used in order to assessment of soccer player’s endurance performance as field-based test. Keywords : Soccer, Shuttle Run Test, Yo-Yo Test, VO2max
